I may look kinda weird to you, with my facemask, but it's very normal in Asian countries. When you're sick, you still have to work (usually), it's the type of work ethic here. So as a result many people just wear facemasks.
What I don't get, however, is the style of eating combined with being sick at work and/or hanging out with friends. The style is to have many side dishes and one appetizer that everyone shares. I've been out when I was sick, and I was flabbergasted that I was told to share with them. It explains why people get sick easily, ontop of a densely populated area.
So yeah, when I go to the USA I'm totally wearing a facemask in public. It just makes sense when you're sick. It's not that fun to be four-eyed and wear one...foggy glasses!

I sported a funky pink one when I was sick - it's a shame Hello Kitty one's don't come in adult's size!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you - face masks are a great idea but sharing food when you are sick...hummm....not so much!
